Each quarter Umbrella generates an update of all the news and content we’ve created over the past three months. For the Q3 2022 update, we are continuing the conversation on cybersecurity. As always please forward the update to colleagues and friends.
In case you missed it, here are some of our favorite blog posts and important client communications from the last 90 days.
Have you ever wondered where the Umbrella IT “magic” happens? No, it’s not a dark basement! It’s a swank office building in the heart of the River Market District!
This year Umbrella Managed Systems observes our 15th year in business and our team is hosting a Celebration Open House!
Save the date for Saturday, August 6th. Starting at 8:00 AM, we will be serving mimosas, coffee, & light breakfast (donuts instead of light breakfast?) at our office. Afterward, you can get out and enjoy all that the Historic River Market District has to offer!
Umbrella’s work to become Kansas City’s favorite MSP never stops! We are committed to providing premium IT services for our clients. The end of 2021 saw the release of Windows 11, Microsoft’s first full update of the operating system since Windows 10 in 2015. The six-year wait between updates was the longest in Windows history — so, was it worth it? With rollouts occurring throughout 2022, Windows 11 will bring improved security features, a more modern visual design, and better app integrations; however, it will also bring increased hardware requirements.
In this blog post we shared some of our favorite features and our advice on when and how to make the transition. You can read the full story here.
At the end of May a cybersecurity notice was posted by researchers reporting a zero-day vulnerability using Microsoft Office. Known as Follina, this vulnerability uses bogus Word document attachments to infect and remotely execute malicious code on a user’s device. Experts are calling for organizations to be especially vigilant when opening unexpected .doc attachments.
Umbrella continues to remain proactive to combat bad actors and cybersecurity threats. To help you better understand the seriousness of this vulnerability, how we are defending against it, and what you can do to remain vigilant you can visit our blog for a full overview of the Follina Zero-Day Vulnerability.
On Thursday, February 24th, 2022, news sources reported that Russia launched their invasion of Ukraine. This attack included shelling and rocket attacks on several of the major cities including Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.
Since the initial invasion in February more stories have confirmed that the invasion is not only physical attacks but has also consisted of ongoing cyber-attacks on Ukraine. Organizations around the world have published warnings about the increase in cybersecurity threats that will serve as fallout from this attack. Umbrella Managed Systems picked up on these warnings early on and our team worked closely to deployed changes to combat increased cyber threats. With any major cybersecurity incident, we continue to monitor for threats closely. Check out the Cyber War, Russia Invades Ukraine blog post for more details about the invasion and Umbrella’s response.
Now more than ever before, Security Awareness Training is important for your organization. The leadership team at Umbrella takes cybersecurity very seriously and has made security awareness training part of the ITMS program. Every month we send mock phishing tests to our staff and our clients to help them become more aware of suspicious emails.
Every team member at Umbrella strives to be an ideal team player. The ideal team player embodies three virtues: humility, hunger, and people smarts. The power of this combination drastically accelerates and improves the process of building high-performing teams. Normally our staff continually submits votes for colleagues that exemplify the HHS traits and at the end of the quarter, a winner is selected.
Congratulations to these winners and all the hardworking staff at Umbrella. It’s a hardworking team like this that allows us to provide quality IT services.
