David “Sparky” Sparks joined Team Umbrella on June 12th, 2017 and immediately dove into some challenging technical issues. Previously, David spent a lot of time with his father in the phone business. With an FCC license, David went into telecommunications out of college. Then moved into the data sector of technology. He’s always found technology to be an interesting and challenging field. His career led him into more of a Systems Administrator role.
When asked why he wanted to work at Umbrella, he said “working with a diverse set of customers was appealing.” That diversity is what makes every day unique. David enjoys learning more about our customers and their networks. He particularly likes going on site to fix things. “Clients are happy to see you, when you are there to get stuff working again or make improvements.”
David is a Missouri native. While he lived in Odessa, he served on the City Council for thirteen years and was Mayor Pro-tem for eight years. He now lives in Blue Springs, which still has a small town feel, and a shorter commute.
In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with his seven grandchildren. They are very involved in their church. David also likes to watch movies and read, particularly technical white papers. After all, technology can be fun!
