By Trent Peters, Principal and Chief Technology Officer at Umbrella Managed Systems
A few months ago, Umbrella announced that it is continuing to grow and focus on implementing our ITMS 3.0 program. Part of that development means we need the right resources on the bus. Heath, Jean, and I are excited to announce that Joe DeSimone has joined Umbrella as a vCIO and Director of our Proactive Operations team.
Heath and I have known Joe for several years – as a client and a colleague. We have always been impressed with Joe’s collaborative leadership style and expertise in the healthcare IT space. His ability to combine operational knowledge and technology solutions makes him the ideal candidate to take on the vCIO role.
Most recently, Jean and I worked closely with Joe at DataFile Technologies, where he led the Information Technology team. Anyone who has met Joe knows he exemplifies Umbrella’s core values (Hungry, Humble, Smart).
As a healthcare IT leader, Joe joins Umbrella with over 25 years of healthcare operations and IT experience. Previously, he held leadership roles at Carondelet Health and Ascension Health here in Kansas City, where he was responsible for IT operations and strategy for two acute care hospitals and 15 physician clinics.
Joe and his wife Terri live in Lee’s Summit with their three children. In his free time, Joe is an avid tennis player and enjoys reading and studying planetary science and cosmology (ask him about the intergalactic teleportation device he built in college). Otherwise, he and his wife spend their time carting their kids around from ball fields, tennis courts, and a variety of other extra-curricular activities.
Bringing Joe on board, considering his background and inclusive and positive leadership style, is a perfect fit for Umbrella.
