By Roxanne Rabich, Service Coordinator at Umbrella Managed Systems, talking about holiday lights and decorations in the City Market.
If you recall my holiday blog from last year, I love the traditions, food and decorations that are Christmas. I talked about how we decorate and put up stockings for our team inside our office. So this year, I thought I would share how the businesses around us in the City Market are decorating and celebrating the season!
We have our giant tree displayed in the front window of our office.
White Lights in City Market
One thing I’ve noticed that is brand new this year… White Christmas lights were installed on the street lamps on 5th and on Walnut. This really adds to the festive atmosphere on our block.
I noticed a beautiful white tree with gold trim at Voltage. Houndstooth has lights in their windows, and so does Planters Seed and Spice Store, along with their vintage decor. Opera House has a lot of vintage decors as well, which brings back childhood memories.
Other Things to See and Do
I’ve also noticed advertisements on the Kansas City Streetcar for KC Dazzle. Several light tours and holiday events are listed on their website for you to enjoy in Crown Center and Downtown Kansas City. Of course, there are always plenty of lights on display at the Country Club Plaza as well!
Longview Lake hosts Christmas in the Park through December 31st, which is a fun display that you drive through.
Kansas City’s lights and decorations might not compare to New York or Chicago, but sometimes we forget just how much Kansas City does have to offer. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from your friends at Umbrella!
