By John King, Business Development Manager at Umbrella Managed Systems, talking about working with Grin Eye Care.
The livelihood of any business is the clients they serve. I think we have some of the best clients anyone could dream about. One of the first clients that I worked with when I joined the Umbrella Family is Grin Eye Care. They’re a great group of people that had some serious IT needs.
Grin Eye Care has been in Olathe since 1988 and has opened three more offices in Leawood and Grandview. They take care of everything for your eyes from fitting new glasses to Lasik and cataract surgeries. They’re truly a one stop shop, much like Umbrella. We don’t fix eyes, but we’re a one stop IT shop.
Grin Eye Care has been a perfect partner. I spoke with Nancy Grabast, Practice Manager, about her experience with Umbrella.
John: How has the transition to Umbrella been?
Nancy: Our old IT system was nonexistent. When I started with Grin Eye Care, I was the IT person and that’s not my specialty. We hired a person to take care of the IT problems. He made big promises but couldn’t deliver. Dr. Grin’s wife, Dr. Trudi Grin, recommended Umbrella to us for our IT support and it’s been great! The switch to Umbrella was smooth, and while many in the office had trouble adjusting to picking up the phone when they had a computer problem, they soon found it was an easy process to submit a trouble ticket.
John: What does working with Umbrella mean to you and your team?
Nancy: Having Umbrella as part of our team ensures that our patient records are safe and secure. Since our medical practice utilizes EMR, (Electronic Medical Records) it’s vital that we have a secure network to protect the confidential information in the charts. It’s also nice to know that when a problem occurs with our computers, Umbrella is just a phone call away to analyze the problem and get us back up and seeing patients.
John: Where do you find the most value from our IT support?
Nancy: Umbrella is very easy to work with and very responsive. Everyone we encounter from Umbrella is professional, yet FUN. They like to laugh and joke with us while doing a great job in a timely manner. While we worry we might be calling the help desk too many times, they’re always friendly and helpful. The primary benefit of working with Umbrella is that I can do the work that I am good at and let Umbrella do what they are good at. It’s a huge burden lifted off of me that I no longer need to be the IT person.
Grin Eye Care has been a great partner to Umbrella. Nancy and her team have been nothing but a pleasure to work with. Initially we had a few outdated issues to resolve in their IT infrastructure, but nothing we couldn’t handle. The benefit of what we do and how we do it is how the technology impacts the user experience.
Umbrella cannot unleash the WOW without strong technology and our user centric approach. Technology is important, but the experience is the WOW. (It also doesn’t hurt to have great clients working with us!).
If you need glasses or are tired of contacts, check out Grin Eye Care. They’re amazing people to work with. If you need a little WOW in your tech support, give me a call. Operators are standing by.
