A beautiful, sunny Saturday. A nice breeze, raising money for charity and golfing with your boss. What could be better?
Heath and I recently played in a Tog Gun KC charity golf tournament benefiting the Halo Foundation. We thought the event was for a good cause and another way to get Umbrella’s name out in the community.
I would love to be telling a story about heroic drives, long putts and birdies galore. This is not that story.
Although one of our playing partners did sink a lengthy putt for birdie, we mostly chased lost balls and couldn’t decide who had the best shot to play. Sadly, we rarely picked my shots, but it was still a lot of fun.
Roxanne, our Service Coordinator, was stationed on Hole #7, handing out our newly customized sunglasses and Koozies. We were able to sponsor the hole with a donation going directly to Halo to help homeless children in Kansas City. She was a trooper sitting under a giant oak tree and greeting all the golfers at they came through. I’m fairly certain the sunglasses and Koozies were a hit. (Heath wears his red sunglasses almost every day.)
Playing golf on a Saturday is fun enough, but getting to meet people, hand out some sunglasses, and raise a little money for charity is what I would call a successful day of “working.” If anyone has a golf outing and they need a couple of teammates, Heath and I are ready and able. Or if you need some Umbrella Koozies or sunglasses, give me a shout.
