Academic and nonprofit healthcare organization, Cedars-Sinai is the latest to blend technology with healthcare – with a focus on patient experience.
Late February, Cedars-Sinai announced a pilot program to put Alexa-powered tools in over 100 patient rooms. The device is meant to give patients a hands-free way of calling for nursing staff, controlling their entertainment system, and access typical Amazon Alexa features like streaming music or checking up on current events.
Requests are routed to the most appropriate staff to handle the need. For example, requests for pain medication are forwarded directly to a patient’s registered nurse.
